Empathy Hunt: The Treasure of Understanding

Despite legal protections, people living with HIV (PLWH) in Taiwan continue to face stigma in healthcare settings due to knowledge gaps among frontline healthcare professionals (HCPs). Empathy Hunt: The Treasure of Understanding transformed mandatory Continuing Professional Development into an accredited, web-based comic game inspired by real PLWH stories. Co-created with the Taiwan AIDS Society and Taiwan AIDS Nurses’ Association, it enabled flexible learning without additional time or cost. Within two months, the programme achieved 10× average participation, increased HIV knowledge by up to 60% among low-baseline learners, and improved care experiences for an estimated 8,000 patients.
