How Aggreko used original research to lead Latin America’s energy debate

Sherlock Communications

Client: Aggreko

As Latin America’s energy transition moved up political and media agendas in 2025, debate across the region was dominated by opinion, regulation and competing narratives, with little reliable data on how the transition was actually unfolding on the ground. Aggreko and Sherlock Communications set out to change that. Through a proprietary, multi-country research programme designed and executed by Sherlock, the campaign generated original, decision-grade insight into how senior energy leaders across seven Latin American markets were experiencing and managing the transition. Launched ahead of COP30, the study transformed complex energy economics into locally relevant, data-led narratives that resonated with business, policy and sustainability media. By owning the evidence rather than reacting to the conversation, Aggreko shifted from being perceived as an equipment provider to a trusted transition partner. The campaign exceeded Tier-1 coverage targets, generated proactive inbound from leading outlets across the region, and established Aggreko’s insight series as a reference point for journalists, policymakers and commercial teams alike — demonstrating how research-led PR can reshape authority in one of Latin America’s most politicised sectors.
