Our Journey of Joy With Operation Smile UAE

Since signing a memorandum of understanding with Operation Smile UAE in 2023, Mubadala has built a long-term, purpose-led partnership that delivers life-changing healthcare to underserved communities while deeply engaging employees across geographies. Rooted in Mubadala’s belief that sustainable value extends beyond financial returns, the partnership mobilizes employees to support children born with cleft lip and palate—restoring dignity, confidence, and opportunity through access to safe surgery. In 2025, this commitment came to life through three international Operation Smile missions in Tangier (Morocco), Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic), and Aswan (Egypt). Seventeen Mubadala volunteers contributed over 1,150 hours, supporting more than 200 life-changing surgeries in a single year. Volunteers included both medical specialists from Mubadala Health and non-medical employees who supported patient care, logistics, and child-life activities. Beyond the operating theatre, the partnership strengthened employee engagement, cross-border collaboration, and pride in Mubadala’s purpose. Since 2023, the partnership has supported over 400 surgeries globally, transferred skills to local medical teams, and reinforced Mubadala’s Employee Volunteering Programme as a powerful platform for global impact. This initiative exemplifies how a global investor can translate corporate purpose into measurable social impact—changing lives, empowering employees, and building sustainable community outcomes through partnership.
