In August 2025, two of the world’s biggest YouTubers, MrBeast and Mark Rober, joined forces with WaterAid to launch #TeamWater. What emerged was one of the most ambitious and effective creator-led PR campaigns ever delivered by an NGO. In just one month, the campaign raised over $41 million, mobilised over 10,000 digital-first creators across 144 countries, and secured funding to bring clean water to two million people for decades to come. At a time when the global water crisis remains chronically underfunded and under profiled, and despite accelerating climate change, #TeamWater transformed a neglected development issue into a global cultural moment. By placing influencer-led storytelling at the heart of a PR-driven strategy, WaterAid demonstrated how ethically delivered, strategically designed creator partnerships can deliver unprecedented scale, speed and long-term impact.
